SOUND DESIGN EXERCISES

Here is a selection of sound design exercises from my time at SCAD. As these are portions of other films, I do not own the rights to the images below, and I am not profiting from their use.

SFX Re-design (Final Destination 2)

This is part of a sound effect re-design assignment I did for a Sound Editing class. All of the sounds in this clip were replaced by me, either taken from a library, or recorded.

Foley Re-design (No Country For Old Men)

This was an assignment for my Foley class, in which we had to record new Foley cues for one of many amazing scenes from "No Country For Old Men." This clip was really fun because it took a lot of detailed, subtle Foley, which is challenging, but great. The thumbnail for this one sometimes looks weird, but there is a video here. Again, and as with all of these exercises, excluding the few bits of the Elysium Soundtrack, all sounds were recorded and edited by myself only.

SONGS AND MUSICAL EXPERIMENTS

Here are some shortened edits of a few songs of my own, most of which are experiments in musique concrete and atmospheric soundscapes. "Tacenda" is a pretty straight-forward industrial/electronica song. The piece entitled "election night" was made out of some hydrophone recordings of me banging on a pot sitting on the grate in my oven. "printer_" is similarly a piece that I made using some recordings of my somewhat-cheap inkjet printer. "VacSerDust" is a slowly evolving, synth-driven soundscape, originally almost 11:00 long.
